Unicharm Corporation, in partnership with company, Toyota Tsusho Corporation and its group company CFAO Kenya, is establishing a joint venture company dedicated to the sale of premium sanitary napkins in Kenya. The company, which will be known as Sofy East Africa Limited, will market SOFY Deep Absorb pads, which have been produced at the company’s Egyptian factory since 2023, as well as SOFY Long Lasting, which have been made in Kenya in collaboration with Toyota Tsusho since January 2025. 

The companies decided to expand into Kenya and neighboring countries after strong reception from consumers and satisfactory sales performance. The boards of the two companies felt this success could be expanded through the establishment of a locally based company to handle not only sales and distribution, but also development, production, sales, marketing, and human resource development. 

Uncharm will control 75% of the company whilc Toyota Tsusho and CFAO Kenya will retain 17.5% and 7.5%, respectively.
